We each have our own unique taste, especially when it comes to boats and boat types. For those of you who enjoy the wind whipping across your face and the trees blurring by you then Alpha Z would be a treat. With the ability to run at 95 mph Alpha Z has become one of the most well known boats built by Van Dam Custom Boats.
Built in 1998 this beautiful stepped v-bottom planing runabout is made with a Honduras Mahogany overlay. The construction of the boat is made with cold molded Okoume plywood. With an overall length of 32’9” and beam of 8’ this boat is hard not to notice speeding across the water. The length to transom is 26’7” and the deadrise is 22 degrees at the transom. The displacement is 6,250 pounds. Everything about her screams luxury and speed.
Powered by a Keith Eichert 805 HP V-8 engine Alpha Z knows how to glide. And it comes with a fuel capacity of 100 gallons. Designed by Michael Peters Yacht Design Alpha Z is custom in every way. With a custom fabricated drivetrain and a custom fabricated windshield you will not see anything like it elsewhere. The dash is hand carved from a single piece of Honduras Mahogany. The steering wheel is even custom built! There was no step skipped in making this a picturesque boat.
Not only is there beauty oozing out of Alpha Z you cannot forget the high tech features it has as well. The driver has fingertip controls of all mechanical and electrical functions. This makes driving the boat a simple task. Built with power seats that are made of English saddle leather (molded without stitches) there is a level of class that is carried throughout the boat.
Carrying custom to an all-new level there is even a custom trailer that was created for this beauty, making sure she travels safely wherever she may be headed. Currently you can see her on display at Boatique Winery in northern California.
Although now seventeen years old Alpha Z is still getting the praise she deserves. She has been the recipient of the Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award and the ID Magazine Design Award. There have even been articles published in Graphis and Playboy about Alpha Z.
